The state of play regarding restitution: The "Renta Standard"
Rental companies distinguish between two types of wear and tear:
- Normal wear and tear: Minor superficial scratches near the handles, normal wear and tear on tires or carpets. This is part of the life of the car and will not be charged to you.
- Damage: Dent in the bodywork, cracked bumper, cigarette burns on the seats. These items will be subject to repair costs.
- Pro tip: One month before the end of the lease, give the car a thorough clean and take it to your mechanic for any minor repairs. This will often cost you less than the rental company's bill.
Your 3 options at the end of your contract
- Return and terminate: You return the keys, sign the return form, and the contract is terminated. You no longer have a car.
- Renew: This is the most common option. Six months before the end of the contract, you order your new car. On the day, you return the old one and drive away with the new one. This guarantees uninterrupted mobility.
- Buying back the vehicle: If you loved your car, you can ask for the buyback price. Please note that this price is set at market value and will be communicated to you by your advisor at the end of the contract.
