Difference between financial leasing and private leasing
To fully understand the difference between private leasing and financial leasing, several factors must be taken into account:
Services:
Unlike financial leasing contracts, which do not include operational services, private leasing for individuals offers a comprehensive range of services in an all-inclusive leasing contract, such as: taxes, insurance, maintenance and repairs, assistance and breakdown service, tires, replacement car, etc.
Financing:
With private leasing, you only pay for the use you make of your car, and you only depreciate the value of the car over the term agreed in your contract. Only a fixed monthly rental fee including all services is charged throughout your contract. You do not have to release any additional cash. At the end of the contract, you return your vehicle and can start a new contract with a new vehicle.
With financial leasing, you amortize 100% of the value of your vehicle either through a financial lease or a lease with an option to purchase at the end of the contract. You may also be required to pay a contribution toward the investment at the time of subscription.
What exactly is Private Lease?
Private Lease (or LLD) is a long-term car rental for individuals. In exchange for a fixed monthly payment, you have a new vehicle without owning it. The payment covers use, maintenance, insurance, and taxes. At the end of the contract (e.g., 48 months), you simply return the vehicle.
What is the difference between Financial Leasing (LOA) and Private Leasing (LLD)?
The difference is the ultimate goal:
- Financial leasing (LOA): This is a disguised loan. You pay to buy the car at the end via a purchase option. Services are often extra.
- Private Leasing (LLD): This is an "all-inclusive" package . You only pay for usage and peace of mind (maintenance included). You do not become the owner at the end of the term .
Why choose a marketplace over a traditional dealership?
For neutrality and price. Unlike a dealer tied to a single brand, our marketplace compares offers from multiple rental companies in Luxembourg. We select the best offer on the market for the vehicle you want, thus guaranteeing a more competitive rental price.
Is the subscription process 100% online?
It's a hybrid model. You choose and filter offers online on our website. Then, an expert advisor takes over to optimize your application and answer any complex questions before signing. You get the speed of digital with the security of human contact.
The contract and costs
Is an initial deposit required?
No, it is not mandatory. Most of our offers are "with down payment." However, paying a higher first monthly payment allows you to reduce your subsequent monthly payments. It is a way to adjust the lease to your monthly budget.
How can I claim the government subsidy (Klimabonus) for an electric car?
You don't have to do anything. We deduct government subsidies (up to €6,000 for electric vehicles) directly from the total leasing cost. Your monthly payment is therefore already reduced thanks to the subsidy. No cash advance or administrative paperwork for you to deal with.
Termination of the contract
How does the return of the car at the end of the lease work?
An independent expert inspects the vehicle according to the "Renta" standard (market standard).
- Accepted: Normal wear and tear related to age and mileage (small superficial scratches).
- Charged: Undeclared damage to the vehicle bodywork, interior tears, or missing equipment.
What happens if I exceed the planned mileage?
The actual mileage is recorded upon return.
- Excess mileage: You pay for the extra miles at a rate known in advance (indicated in your contract).
- Under-mileage: Depending on the rental company, a portion of the unused mileage may sometimes be refunded.
Can I buy the car at the end of the contract?
This is not automatic with long-term leasing. However, you can ask the leasing company if they will sell you the vehicle at market price when you return it.
Can the mileage be changed during the contract period?
Yes, absolutely. If your circumstances change (new job, moving house), please contact us. We can request an amendment to the contract to adjust the mileage and rent, in order to avoid a costly adjustment at the end.
How can you change cars without ending up stranded?
We plan ahead for you. We take stock six months before the end of your contract. The aim is to order your new car in time so that its delivery coincides exactly with the return of your old one.
On a daily basis
Who pays the fines and tickets?
It's you. The authorities usually send fines directly to your home address. You pay them yourself. This way, we avoid the re-billing systems with administrative fees that some rental companies use.
Can I lend my leased car to my spouse?
Yes. Although the contract is in your name, your spouse or children may drive the vehicle if they have a valid license. Note: Please inform our advisors of any "young drivers" when taking out the policy so that the insurance deductible can be adjusted accordingly.
What should you do in the event of a breakdown or accident?
Call the support number provided immediately (24/7).
- The assistance service organizes the repair.
- A replacement vehicle is provided according to the terms of your contract.
- Repairs are carried out at an approved garage within the network, at no cost to you (excluding any excess in the event of an at-fault accident).
Are winter tires included in the contract?
It depends on the option you choose, but it is highly recommended. In Luxembourg, winter tires are mandatory in winter conditions. Choose the "Summer + Winter Tires" service to include purchase, fitting, and storage at no extra cost.
Am I allowed to take the car abroad?
Yes, absolutely. You can drive anywhere in the European Union and countries covered by the green insurance card. Your leased car is also designed for your vacations.
